Greencastle freshman downed by O.V.

Friday, January 23, 2009

Poor shooting and numerous turnovers continued to plague the Greencastle freshman basketball team Wednesday at Owen Valley. Shooting a dismal 16 percent for the game (5-of-31), committing 16 turnovers, and being out-rebounded 25-13, the Tiger Cubs fell to Patriots 28-20.

Trailing 10-5 at the half, Greencastle put together a strong second half and was down only four points with two minutes to go in the game.

Missing two key shots that would have given the Tiger Cubs the lead, they were then forced to foul and the Patriots hit 6-of-6 from the charity stripe down the stretch to seal the win. Trevor Huber led Greencastle with eight points.

Greencastle (4-7) will return home after a month of road games for a 6 p.m. contest Monday vs. Northview.
