Winter in Indiana

Wednesday, January 28, 2009
Tina Jackson of Greencastle scrapes snow and ice from her Ford Expedition Tuesday. Putnam County is under a winter storm warning until noon Wednesday. An additional 5 to 7 inches of snow was expected from Tuesday into Wednesday.

Significant amounts of snow in the forecast will make travel dangerous. If traveling becomes a must, keep an extra flashlight, food and water in the vehicle in case of an emergency.

  • Remember 31 years ago today was the Blizzard of 1978!

  • I think this may be the biggest snow my kids have seen. I do remember the Blizzard of '78 myself. Now I know what my parents were up against with that storm. Being a kid though, we thought it was fun. Not now, especially trying to drive in it.

  • To bondsman, global warming isn't a constant occurance. Just because it is snowing now doesn't mean it isn't real - it is based on the yearly temperature increase not on a daily increase. Listen to the news and you'll learn about life ourside of Greencastle like the ice shelf about to break off.

  • Siera, you may know more than I do about what the so called experts call global warming. However, if you believe it exists-do you think "man" is causing it? Personally, I think that would be tooting our own horn a little loudly. I just don't see it. In my opinion, things happen exactly the God intends.

  • Interesting how this cold winter times out with an unusually inactive period of solar activity like sun spots.

But Al Gore needs a couple more bucks to put high priced gas in his Gulfstream............
