James Dewey "Red" Simpson

James Dewey "Red" Simpson, 75, of Roachdale died at St. Clare Medical Center in Crawfordsville on Friday, Jan. 30, 2009.

He was born Feb. 28, 1933 at Somerset, Ky. to John and Eucie Mink Simpson. He married Elaine Simpson on June 7, 1974 at Roachdale and she survives.

Mr. Simpson retired from Link Belt in 1988 and owned a small engine repair shop in Roachdale.

Other survivors include son Tony Simpson of Crawfordsville; five daughters, Judy Springer and husband Rick of Crawfordsville, Julie Adams and husband Matt of Ladoga, Pam Sinnet and husband Tom of Roachdale, Kitty Kortz and husband Mike of Greencastle, Candy Sweeney and husband Jim of Clinton Falls; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and sister Mary Woodall of Bainbridge.

Preceding him in death were his parents, brother Denny and sister Ruby Bryant.

Services are planned for 10 a.m. Tuesday at Servies and Morgan Funeral Home at 102 E. Washington St., Roachdale with Rev. Shannon Ivers officiating. Burial will be at Roachdale Cemetery.

Calling will be on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
