New WorkOne classes offered

New training opportunities are available to individuals wanting to increase their skills to find employment or advance their current career.

WorkOne Western Indiana and the Adult Education Departments of the Vigo County School Corporation, Area 30 Career Center in Putnam County and the Parke-Vermillion Education and Training Interlocal will host the classes.

Classes will be offered to adults (18 or older) in the evening at various locations beginning February 2009 at no cost. The courses being offered will include: Basic Computer Training, Manufacturing Math, Introduction to Advanced Manufacturing, Introduction to Computers in Design, Introduction to MIG Welding, Introduction to Basic Machining, PLC Basics, Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM), Welding and Material Layout, Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Learn Haas Certification and AME 21 Certification.

Participants will receive a certificate upon successful completion of each individual course. Certificates can then be presented to potential employers to verify workforce readiness.

Individuals who are unemployed due to plant closings or layoffs or underemployed and seeking a better job are encouraged to attend. Interested individuals should contact their local WorkOne office.
