Dahlstrom, McNelis earn NFF honors

The Central Indiana Chapter of the National Football Foundation announced its Class of 2009 inductees Wednesday.

Putnam County will be well represented as North Putnam's Griffen Dahlstrom was inducted as a High School Scholar-Athlete and DePauw's Michael McNelis was bestowed the Collegiate Award.

In addition to Dahlstrom and McNelis, Ball State's Dante Love was awarded the Terry Courage Award and former Purdue head coach Joe Tiller was named the Distinguished American Award Recipient.

The event will take place at the Indianapolis Colts Complex Feb. 28 and will be co-emceed by Dave Furst (WRTV) and Dick Rea (WTHR).

The Colts and the Irsay Foundation have served as the main sponsors for the events since its inception in 1995. The Central Indiana Chapter of the National Football Foundation is one of more than 100 across the United States.
