Russellville board drafting new rental agreement
RUSSELLVILLE -- The Russellville Community Center board is drafting a rental agreement for anyone renting space there. It is something they haven't done before, but are doing so for liability reasons.
As of Jan. 1, rental fees are $75 for the gym; $35 for the kitchen; $30 per room; and $200 for a wedding reception. The higher fee for weddings includes two-and-one-half days to three days time.
The town council would like to see the community center's board govern the building, even though the town owns it. There are issues still being ironed out, but a special meeting will be set for board members and the town council to find mutual ground.
During the regular town council meeting Wednesday, it was unanimously decided Internet service would be purchased. After much research, council president Don Reddish found WildBlue to be the cheapest provider.
Sally Spencer McAffee, clerk-treasurer, said Internet service at the office would allow her to file paperwork with the state. She said in the near future, it will be required to upload information to DGLF, Indiana Department of Revenue and just about everyone.
In other news, a fireworks display is a go for the roundup in September. There will be a blue grass festival with food, a small petting zoo and craft vendors the same weekend.
The next town council meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. March 18 at the town hall.
