Charles Ray Hunter

Charles "Charlie" Ray Hunter, 84, of Clemmons, N.C. died on Friday, Feb. 20, 2009.

He was born in Fillmore on Feb. 28, 1924 to the late Harold and Elsie Hunter. His wife, Lucille Mangus Hunter preceded him in death. He will always be remembered for his friendly, fun loving free spirit. He retired from Archway Cookies after which he lived in Lake Placid, Fla.

Mr. Hunter is survived by his son, David Hunter and wife Claudia of Advance, N.C.; one grandson, Matthew Hunter and wife Christie of Kernersville, N.C.; two great-granddaughters, Katelyn Rae and Alexis Page Hunter of Kernersville, N.C.; and two sisters, Kathleen Stanley of Coatesville and Frances Stewart of Ft. Myers, Fla.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. on Friday at the Forest Hill Cemetery with burial to follow. Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be given to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation, 710 W. 168th St., New York, N.Y. 10032.
