A Fillmore man was formally charged in Putnam County Circuit Court Friday with several felony sex crimes.

Lee Alan Murphy, 35, has been in jail since Wednesday. He faces two charges of Class A felony child molesting, two charges of Class B felony sexual misconduct with a minor, a Class C felony count of child molesting, a Class C felony count of sexual misconduct with a minor and a Class D felony count of dissemination of matter harmful to a minor.

Judge Matthew Headley set a pretrial conference for Murphy for April 30. His bond was set at $50,000 cash only, and as of late Friday afternoon Murphy remained lodged at the Putnam County Jail.

An affidavit of probable cause signed by Indiana State Police Detective James Dungan said the charges were brought against Murphy after the ISP received an alleged child molesting complaint from Putnam County Child Protective Services.

The alleged victim, a female minor, was interviewed and said Murphy had made her perform various sexual acts over an unknown period of time.

On Wednesday, Dungan spoke with Murphy by phone, and Murphy agreed to come to the Indiana State Police Post in Putnamville to be interviewed. According to court documents, Murphy corroborated much of what the alleged victim had told authorities.

Murphy said he did not recall exactly when the incidents occurred, but that they took place after June or July 2007 and before October 2008.

At the conclusion of the interview Murphy was arrested without incident, court documents said.
