The 2008-09 girls basketball season saw a good mix of veteran and young players, with latter assuring fans of Putnam County basketball that the future looks bright.

One of those players leading the youth movement is Greencastle sophomore Mallory Miller. Miller's ability to knock down the outside side and find her way past defenses, put her opposing team's radar and has earned her the 2008-09 Banner Graphic Player of the Year honor.

Miller led the county in in free throw percentage, with an 83 percent average and also led the All-County team in three-point percentage at 36 percent. She ranked second in the county with a shooting percentage at 44 percent (82-of-185).

Miller knocked down 26-of-58 three-point attempts, as well as 56-of-127 from inside the arc on the season. She was also able to convert 34-of-41 attempts at the charity stripe. On offense, she collected 27 assists and 19 offensive rebounds. She also stole the ball 21 times on the season.
