Robert W. "Bob" Hood, 73, of Crawfordsville died on Saturday, March 28, 2009 at Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis.

He was born Dec. 8, 1935 in Bainbridge, the son of William R. and Gladys M. Stewart Hood. He was a 1954 graduate of Greene Township School. He married Marilyn M. Appleby on Oct. 18, 1958 in Crawfordsville.

Mr. Hood served in the U.S. Army from 1958 through 1960. He retired from RR Donnelleys in January 1997 after 41 years. He last worked as a storage controller.

He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Crawfordsville, the American Legion and Eagles lodge. He loved to go to flea markets.

Survivors include his wife; two brothers, Gary Hood and wife Marge of Greencastle and Richard Hood of Greencastle; two sisters, Shirley Kinkead and husband Keith of Crawfordsville and Wilma Deck and husband Ed of Centralia, Wash.; six nephews; two nieces; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

His parents preceded him in death.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Powers-Priebe Funeral Home in Crawfordsville with the Rev. Chris Rennick officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Crawfordsville American Legion and VFW posts.

Burial will be at Oak Hill Grant Avenue Cemetery in Crawfordsville.

Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
