Open Mic Night

Wednesday, April 1, 2009
Joe Heithaus will give a poetry reading and host an open mic night April 7 at the Blue Door Cafe.

Looking for ways to express yourself?

Open Mic Poetry Night will provide the perfect venue to read poetry and share in the love of the spoken word. The event is co-sponsored by the Putnam County Public Library and will be April 7 at the Blue Door Cafe, 24 S. Indiana St.

Joe Heithaus will take the lead and give a reading of his own poetry before turning host for the night. The point of open mic night -- besides celebrating National Poetry Month -- is that no matter how good or bad the poetry, everyone is welcome up on stage.

Residents are invited to read a favorite poem, even if not a poet.

Sign-up will begin at 6:30 p.m. for those who want to take the stage. Readings will begin at 7 p.m.

Don't be shy and bring friends. It's free, it's at the Blue Door, and it's bound to be a good time.
