Rotary donation to Summer Enrichment Program

Greencastle Rotary President Eric Wolfe (right) presents a check in the amount of $2000 to The Summer Enrichment Program for Sponsorship by the Greencastle Rotary Club of the Free Swim Program to Gayle Hansen (left) and Rajai Bimbo. This was made possible with a Simplified Matching Grant from Rotary District 6560. The grant wast for $950, and the balance came from the Greencastle Club. Bimbo was the guest speaker at Wednesday's Rotary meeting, informing the members what summer programs had done for him as a child and what the enrichment program does for local youth. "I was always a part of a summer program, and I found them to be a central part of my maturation process," Bimbo said. He spoke of how the program creates a family atmosphere, teaches the children improved social skills and fosters development. He said the development is seen clearly in the Rotary-sponsored swimming program. "This is one of the areas of the program that is so rewarding that can see the progress the students are making from summer to summer," Bimbo said.
