Additional charges filed against Honey

Wednesday, April 22, 2009

The state of Indiana has filed a fourth felony charge against a Fillmore man already facing three counts of felony child molesting.

On Feb. 25, William R. Honey, 31, was charged with a Class A felony and two Class C felony counts of child molesting. On Tuesday, an additional charge of Class D felony neglect of a dependent child was filed against Honey.

Court documents allege that Honey fondled a child on several occasions between the spring of 2003 and February 2008. He was arrested on Feb. 25, 2008. At his initial hearing that same day, Honey pled not guilty to all charges and was released after posting 10 percent of a $20,000 bond plus $20,000 surety.

Honey's trial has been continued several times at the request of both the state and Honey's court-appointed attorney Melinda Jackman-Hanlin. Currently, the trial is set for May 6.

If convicted on all charges, Honey could face more than 70 years in prison.
