WAVELAND -- Lawrence Ray McGaughey, 88, Greencastle and formerly of Russellville, died Thursday, April 23, 2009 at Asbury Towers.

He was born Oct. 26, 1920 in Russellville to Ray and Nettie Christy McGaughey.

Mr. McGaughey was a farmer and was owner/operator McGaughey Electric. He was married to Betty Marlan on March 15, 1963 in Greencastle.

His memberships include Russellville Community Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion of Greencastle. He was a former member of Russellville Fire Department. He was a veteran of World War II serving on USS Santa Fa ship 763.

He was a 1939 graduate of Russellville High School.

Survivors include wife Betty; sons David, Danny, Kim, Dennis and Mark; daughters Barb, Carol, Connie, Bonnie and Angie; sister Clara and husband Jack Moore of Florida; 41 grandchildren; and 38 great-grandchildren.

His parents preceded him in death.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Machledt & Services Funeral Home, 301 E. Green St.

Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Travis Gilbert officiating. Military honors will be by Greencastle American Legion and V.F.W. at the cemetery. Burial will be in Hebron Cemetery in Russellville.
