PCH celebrates National Nurses Week

National Nurses Week is celebrated annually from May 6, also known as National Nurses Day, through May 12, the birthday of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing.

Health care is a top national priority and is likely to remain one for the foreseeable future. Registered nurses (RNs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) and Unit Clerks provide around-the-clock bedside care that is at the heart of health care in the United States and at the Putnam County Hospital.

"Our nurses are the backbone of our health care system," stated Rita Coulter, nursing manager.

Putnam County Hospital has been celebrating our nurses this week. Managers prepared a breakfast Monday morning and Dr. Troy Quiz provide pizzas for dinner Tuesday evening. The nurses also received gifts throughout the week as tokens of appreciation. The gifts were donated from various areas of the hospital and community companies and organizations.

Putnam County Hospital currently has approximately 140 nursing staff members.
