Sentencing, pretrial conferences set for accused traffickers

An Indianapolis woman will be sentenced May 28 for trafficking with an inmate at the Putnamville Correctional Facility.

Under the terms of a plea agreement, Tonya Denise Corley Robinson, 35, will plead guilty to one count of Class C felony trafficking with an inmate and one count of Class D felony possession of marijuana, while a charges of Class B felony dealing in cocaine, Class D felonies dealing in marijuana and possession of cocaine and a charge of Class A misdemeanor trafficking with an inmate will be dropped.

Robinson could be sentenced to up to nine years in prison.

Corley was arrested after a Dec. 30 incident in which she allegedly attempted to traffic drugs and other contraband during at visit with an inmate at the Putnamville Correctional Facility.

Robinson previously rejected a plea agreement in which all other charges against her would have been dismissed in exchange for a guilty plea on the Class B felony. Sentencing would have been left open to the court, which means the judge could have given Corley the maximum sentence of 20 years for the charge.

Corley has been in the Putnam County jail since her arrest, unable to post the $15,000 cash plus $15,000 surety set for her by Putnam County Circuit Court Judge Matthew Headley. She requested a bond reduction, which was denied.

Meanwhile, a court date slated for Thursday for an Indianapolis woman accused of trafficking with a Putnamville Correctional Facility inmate has been continued to July 16.

Shakeya Webb, 20, faces charges of Class B felony dealing in a schedule I controlled substance, Class C felony trafficking with an inmate and Class D felony identity deception in connection with an incident in which she allegedly attempted to pass heroin and a cell phone to Charles Archey, who is serving a five-year prison sentence at Putnamville for armed robbery, carrying a handgun without a license, resisting law enforcement and forced entry.

Court documents said Webb also lied about her identity while visiting Archey at the prison.

A warrant for Webb's arrest was issued on Jan. 29. She was apprehended on March 30. At her initial hearing on March 31, Webb pled not guilty to all charges. That same day, she posted 10 percent of a $30,000 bond and was released from jail.

If convicted on all charges, Webb could be sentenced to 31 years in prison.

In connection with the trafficking incident, Archey is now facing additional charges of Class B felony dealing in a schedule I controlled substance and Class D felony possession of a controlled substance. He is set to be in court for a final pretrial conference on June 25. If his case proceeds to trial, it will begin on July 15.
