GREENWOOD -- The South Putnam No. 1 doubles team of Megan Klotz and Tabitha Arnold scored a big win at the Center Grove Regional Tuesday.

Klotz and Arnold teamed up to defeat Tara Holland and Elizabeth Giesting of Triton Central 6-3 and 7-5.

South Putnam head coach Johnnie Briones noted that his duo relaxed a bit going into the second set, but was able to persevere.

"I was concerned about Megan and Tabitha's excitement and nervousness of playing the first time in a regional match, and the fact that Center Grove is one of the best venues in the state," Briones said. "Despite all that, it was obvious from the start that our girls were there to win. After performing extremely well in the first set, I felt like our girls relaxed a little too much in the second set, and allowed Triton Central to take a 2-1 lead going into the 2nd set.

"Our girls fought hard to stay close at 3-4 and showed their ability to come back, and close out the match 7-5," he added.

Klotz and Arnold will take on Sara Rasnick and Stephanie Smith of Morrisontown at 5 p.m. today at the Center Grove Regional today.
