Putnam County Jail

There were several people booked into the Putnam County Jail on various charges recently.

Daniel Murphy, 44, Indianapolis, was booked at 9:54 p.m. Saturday for operating a vehicle while intoxicated and operating per se.

Steven Moore, 41, Coatesville, was booked at 1:59 a.m. Sunday for criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon and public intoxication.

Steve Abner, 51, Indianapolis, was booked at 3:37 a.m. Sunday for public intoxication.

Richie Goul, 19, Greencastle, was booked at 5:47 a.m. Sunday for possessing alcohol as a minor and battery.

Celdelbra Sellers, 21, Indianapolis, was booked at 9:20 a.m. Sunday for identity deception.

Elmer Burnett, 48, Fillmore, was booked at 8:14 p.m. Sunday for violating terms of home detention.

Charles Deckard, 71, was booked at 7:39 p.m. Monday for operating a vehicle while intoxicated, operating per se and public intoxication.

David Bender, 31, was booked at 12:51 a.m. Tuesday for operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

Nicholas Passwater, 19, Greencastle, was booked at 1:55 a.m. Tuesday for possessing alcohol as a minor.

Christopher Clements, 19, Greencastle, was booked at 2:18 a.m. Tuesday for resisting law enforcement and possessing alcohol as a minor.

Shannon Hawthorne, 45, Clearwater, Pa., was booked at 8:48 a.m. Tuesday for probation violation.

Ronald Cottrill, 25, Brazil, was booked at 12:19 p.m. Tuesday for the illegal taking of a wild animal.

Jennifer Stayte, 32, Plainfield, was booked at 1:54 p.m. Tuesday for probation violation.

Putnam County Sheriff's Department

Two vehicles struck a farm implement taking up both lanes and determined to not have flashing amber or red-slow moving vehicle lights.

At approximately 10:30 p.m. Thursday, the implement was being pulled east on S.R. 42 by a pick-up truck driven by Matthew Sims of Lafayette.

Jeremy Trammell of Poland, driver of the first vehicle to strike the farm implement, and Steven Trout of Greencastle, driver of the second vehicle, both struck the piece of equipment with the front-driver's side of their vehicles.

Steele's Wrecker Service towed both vehicles from the scene. There was an estimated $10,000 to $25,000 in damages.

A Crawfordsville teenager was found to be speeding after his vehicle possibly went airborne then striking small trees.

Aaron Kader was traveling on CR 725W approaching S.R. 236, when he lost control of his car while avoiding a second vehicle stopped in the northbound lane on CR 725W. Kader stated he was traveling approximately 40 m.p.h. before the crash.

However, marks on the road indicated Kader was "going extremely fast." He was issued a ticket for speeding too fast to avoid collision and false and fictitious registration.

According to the accident report, Ryan O'Connor and Donnie O'Connor were passengers in Kader's vehicle. Only one was reportedly wearing their seatbelt. Kader complained of neck pain at the scene.

The accident occurred at 5:10 p.m. May 12. Kenney's Wrecker Service towed the vehicle from the scene. There was an estimated $5,001 to $10,000 in damages.

Greencastle Fire Department

Crews were dispatched to 300 Highfall Ave. for a smoke investigation at 9:09 p.m. Friday. They were back in service at 9:33 p.m.

Crews were dispatched to 19 E. Berry St. at 10:47 p.m. Friday for a smoke investigation. They were back in service at 11:06 p.m.

Crews were dispatched at 9:56 a.m. Saturday to a vehicle fire at 2270 CR 150W. No fire was found and they were back in service at 10:34 a.m.

Crews were dispatched to a possible structure fire at 550 E CR 700S, but were disregarded en route. They were called out at 9:12 p.m. Saturday and were back in service at 9:20 p.m.

Crews were dispatched to 106 S. Spring St., at 8:02 a.m. Monday, but were disregarded before leaving the station. They were back in service at 8:04 a.m.

Crews were dispatched to 1054 Judson Court to assist Putnam County Operation Life. They were called out at 12:43 p.m. Monday and were back in service at 12:55 p.m.

Crews were dispatched to 400 S. Illinois St. at 10:41 p.m. Monday for a smoke detector. They were disregarded en route and back in service at 10:43 p.m.

Crews were dispatched to 1109 S. Indiana St. at 3:27 p.m. Tuesday for a fire alarm. The system was being tested. They were back in service at 3:54 p.m.
