Russellville having juvenile trouble

I am a resident of Russellville, and I couldn't agree more that there seems to be a problem with the teenagers. I can not speak for the ATV issue, but the noise and parties that go on nightly is a constant disruption to those of us who keep to ourselves, and try to maintain a quiet living environment. My daughter cannot even play in the community park, because of all of the "hanging out" and drinking that goes on with these unsupervised teens. There is a HUGE problem, and something needs to be done about it.

you know what? if they actually got something in town for the teens you wouldn't have a problem with them!

I remember being a teen in Greencastle and we always hung out at Walmart. We always got ran off just for talking! It was so stupid. we weren't doing anything but hanging out. Everyone thought we were doing other stuff.

Tee Time Golf asked the city to put in a go cart track and batting cages and putt putt at that time and the city refused! If tee Time would have gotten their way, the teens would have had something to do. and the police wouldn't have had to come to walmart all the time and run us off cause of some busybodies.

Get the teens something to do, they will stay outta your hair.

I agree, teens need something to do, there's nothing wrong with just hanging out, if the police would check in on them once and awhile, maybe stop and talk to the teens hanging out they might be suprised, yes it can lead to other things but if the adults in this county would remember their youth maybe they would think differently. I speaking about all the county hangouts not just Russellville

It's not just the hanging out. Look at all the trash that is left in the LoBill parking lot in Greencastle on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Somebody always has to come along and pick up after them when they leave.

Why do you think that everyone has to find things for the teens to do? There is so much out there for them to do then there ever was when the older generation were growing up. They need to use their minds for positive things to do instead of vandalizing or causing trouble. Get over this, "There's nothing for them to do", and quit expecting people to create things for them to do. They need to use their imaginations and senses to create something positive and not bother other people doing it. No sympathy here for these teens nowadays. Maybe the parents should be held accountable too if they do something wrong for not teaching them right or putting some restictions on them instead of letting them run around causing problems.

I'm gonna have to agree with bondsman and Magoo. Teens nowdays have so much to do that it is insulting to hear kids say that they are bored. It is not hard at all to find something to do, even without money.

Whatever happened to PARENTS keeping their kids at home and doing things with them? If the kids weren't turned loose to run all the time, they wouldn't be tearing up stuff. No responsible parents anymore....

first of of, I didn't say people of Putnam Co need to entertain these kids, we do not live anywhere near Russellville, my kids do sometimes hangout in town, they are in college part time and work part time, they live on a farm and have plenty to do during the day, they don't go to the sports park because they are to old to play little league, they don't skate because they never learned, they live on a farm, and yes sometimes they do go to Plainfield on a date and go to the movies, if they want to fish they do that in our pond, sometimes get this they get on the computer, BUT sometimes on a weekend night y GUESS WHAT they get B-O-R-E-D!!!! Just like I used to when I was a teen, and I hung out at Schultz,s does anyone remember that, we cruised up and down the strip, we would gather our change together to get like 2.00 and put gas in the car and crusied. I bet some of you hung out at Schultz's too. I'm sure that some teens do cause problems, but I hope that I taught me kids to have respect for other people and to throw thier trash in a can. I have been to Walmart on a Sat night around 10:00 or so and seen some kids hanging out, and it doesn't bother me. My kids still have curfew out of respect for me.

Oh, give me a break.Read last post..this reader used to hang at Schultz's.when I was a teenager we sat in Marsh parking lot...when My dad was teenager he used to hang out at the Double Decker..this isn't a new issue. Generations have complained abaout teenagers. Doesn't anyone remember what is it like to be a younger person growing up in this area?

There is plenty for kids to do. I am a grandmother and I support my kids to keep their kids (my grandchildren)busy. There is 4-H, Softball, bowling, golf,Sprite for training in cheerleading, church activities,the list goes on just for my granddaughters-they are never bored-summer-fall-spring or winter. It is up to the parents and grandparents to encourage the activities that are available. And there is plenty in this community for our children. Parents if your too busy for your children-you have to make time. Read the banner graphic for things to do with your children. I know of many parents that think it is more important to sit at the Moose or the Eagles and should be with their kids as a family doing fun things instead.
