Dixie R. Gurney

Dixie R. Gurney, 65, of Crawfordsville died on Saturday, June 6, 2009 in Crawfordsville.

She was born on Aug. 21, 1943 in Clay County and was the daughter of the late Harold F. and Dorothy M. Romine Lutz. She was married to Hicklen A. Gurney, Jr. on July 15, 1958 and he died on June 6, 2009.

Mrs. Gurney was a homemaker and a cook.

She is survived by her children, Dawn K. Handwork and husband Keith, Jennifer L. Jost and husband Eugene C., Allen Gurney, Steven M. Gurney, Dennis L. Gurney, Gene Gurney and wife Vicki and James P. Gurney and wife Shannon; sisters Uylanda Bixler and Creola Frazier; brother Kenny Lutz, 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by

daughters Kimberly Ann and Debra Sue Gurney; sisters Beverly Jane Nichols and Patricia Ann Jones; and brothers Vernon Charles Lutz, Forest Earl Lutz and Harold Robert Lutz.

Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. Friday at the Whitaker Funeral Home in Cloverdale. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
