Wednesday, June 10, 2009

A Parke County man is in jail for 60 days for violating the terms of his probation.

On Feb. 21, 2008 Kyle Poynter, 20, was convicted of Class C burglary and given a four-year Department of Correction sentence with two years executed on home detention.

Poynter was charged with Class A misdemeanor carrying a handgun without a license on April 3, and was arrested on April 29 and charged with violating his probation.

This was not the first time Poynter violated his probation. According to court records, he committed domestic battery in August 2008, and was sentenced to time served for that violation on Dec. 19, 2008.

He was then put back on home detention.

Poynter will return to home detention after serving his 60 days at the Putnam County Jail. In addition to the jail time, Poynter will have to report to the probation department daily for 60 days after his release.
