Holding Court

Monday, June 15, 2009
Saturday's downtown farmers' market in Greencastle had a slight interruption this weekend when this cow was spotted standing on the courthouse lawn. The animal, which belongs to David Smith of Morgantown, had escaped from her trailer while stopped at a stoplight in downtown Greencastle. Although the cow proved elusive for a while, her owners, with the help of the Greencastle Police Department and some local citizens, got her back on the trailer and on their way.

  • I bring the true meaning to "Farmer's Market". Hooray for the cow and all who gently persuaded her to get back in the trailer.

This was a happy story - No one tried to steal funds.

  • I heard that the cow originally had a beef with the court bailiff. Seems he had a steak in the cow's future. After some smooth talk they were able to steer the cow to her senses.
