Besides the round of golf, the day will also feature a silent auction of three autographed items donated by the Ryan Newman Foundation.

But far from simply being a day of fun and community fellowship, this outing will go a long way in serving the needs of Putnam County youth.

When the Mary Allison Children's Home was established in Greencastle, it was a haven for children who did not have a family or home. As the community needs changed, it became apparent that there were better ways to serve the deserving children of Putnam County.

As a result, the home on West Columbia Street was sold and the Mary Allison Children's Trust was established. The purpose of this not-for-profit trust is to meet the needs of children who reside or are being educated in Putnam County. This is accomplished by providing financial assistance for their health, education and welfare.

Each of the nine Putnam County Elementary Schools receives up to $1,000 per year from the Mary Allison Children's Trust to cover the immediate needs of these children. In the past, these funds have been used for eyeglasses, dental care, hearing aides and even minor surgery.

The elementary school personnel may also request additional assistance from the Mary Allison Children's Trust when special needs arise. Assistance is given when all other resources have been exhausted.
