Mind Your Health walk-run set

The annual Mind Your Health 4-mile run and 2-mile walk, sponsored by Mental Health America of Putnam County and the DePauw University Cross Country Team, is set for July 25.

The event will take place at the DePauw Nature Park and will begin at 8 a.m. Both the run and the walk are set on packed stone trails in wooded areas.

One route will be along the Big Walnut Creek, and the other will be around the rim of the old stone quarry. Both will include challenging hills (restrooms are available).

Pre-registration fees before July 21 with a T-shirt are $15 for the walk or run.

Without a T-shirt, pre-registration is $11. After July 21, registration fees will be $20 (no T-shirt guarantee).

Both races are free for those younger than 10 or older than 70. T-shirts will be sold for $5 each.

First place for both men and women in both events will be a $50 gift certificate. Second place will be $30 gift certificates, and third place will be $25 gift certificates. There will be age group awards in both events.

Age group awards and a large drawing will be health-related gift certificates for local flower shops, haircuts and other items.

All proceeds will go to support programs provided by MHAPC.
