Daughter wins father's seat on town council

CLOVERDALE -- Cathy Tipton is the newest member of the Cloverdale Town Council.

She was elected to fill the vacancy following the death of councilman Glen Vickroy -- who was Tipton's father.

"I am honored to have been elected to fill the position of a council member, which was held by my father," said Tipton

Tipton ran against Jared Garrison and Charlie Shank for the open seat. She defeated them during a caucus June 13, where each candidate gave a three-minute speech to voters Jenni Artis, Donnie Walton and Will Neibold. The speeches included why each candidate should be voted on the council.

She feels the board has come a long way and with the strong commitment of the board, it will move forward in a very positive way

"Cloverdale is a community that is growing and we may have many challenges ahead of us," she said.

Tipton is a longtime resident of Cloverdale and has been employed by Eli Lilly and Company for 19 years. She has worked in several different areas within the company, but has been in the human resource department for the past seven years.

  • I thought the last article stated the town was shrinking, not growing. Sounds like the smoke and mirrors continue.
