Earl Raymond "Shorty" Lowry

Earl Raymond "Shorty" Lowry, 82, died Friday, Aug. 14, 2009.

He was born May 7, 1927 to Orrin and Delana Catherine Selch Lowry. He was previously married to Sarah Buzzard and they had three children.

Mr. Lowry worked as a punch press operator, then became a foreman at Link Belt Chain Division, retiring after 38 years. He was an avid Indy 500, NASCAR and Indianapolis Indians fan.

He is survived by his children Debra Vandagrifft and husband Tim of Greencastle, Ronald Lee of Fortville and Sue VanBibber and husband Bill of Bainbridge; grandchildren Tim Bicknell, Zachary Lowry and wife Kathy and Sara Deal and husband Josh; great-granddaughters Kristin, Emily, Abigail, Becca, Brianna and Mia; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Emsley and Dutch and grandson Tony Bicknell.

Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at a later date.
