GREENCASTLE -- The Putnam County Community Foundation announced a new fund recognizing the extraordinary contributions to the community by Putnam County Hospital nurses.

The hospital's nurse's fund will honor and reward the nurses at PCH for their dedicated service to patients and residents of Putnam County. The fund will support nurses through capital improvements and educational opportunities.

"Recently, we had a family wanting to recognize our nursing staff for a job well done," said Jennifer Bedwell, marketing coordinator for PHC. "We realized we didn't have a fund established for this purpose an wanted to work with the Putnam County Community Foundation to make a fund supporting our nurses a reality."

This fund gives patients, family members, staff and others in the community a great way to show support and appreciation for nurses.

"This fund will be a great way to strengthen the staff's education and work support," said Rita Coulter, an RN and fund founder.

Each year a committee of nursing staff will meet to determine the best use of the money in the fund. Community foundation staff is available to help donors make gifts of cash, stock, retirement assets, life insurance, bequests, real estate and other types of gifts to the PCH nurse's fund.
