BRAZIL -- The Brazil Concert Band, under the direction of Matthew S. Huber, will present "Grande Finale 2009" at a special time of 7:30 p.m. Sunday, August 30th at Forest Park, rain or shine.

The Sudler Award winning BCB, complete with intermission, will showcase the classic Rossini overture "William Tell," in its entirety, in a setting by Erik Leidzen. Soloists Shelley Criss, flute, and Julie Dugger, oboe, are featured.

Trumpeters Steve Steppe, Dr. Martin Dixon and David Brinson will be in the spotlight during Leroy Anderson's famous "Bugler's Holiday." The entire trumpet section will show off in "Tijuana Brass In Concert" in a setting by Ted Ricketts.

The von Suppe overture, "Morning, Noon and Night in Vienna," arranged by Henry Fillmore, will start the evening along with Fillmore's great march, "Americans, We."

In a salute to America's military, the BCB proudly presents the stately "Victory At Sea," arranged by Robert Russell Bennett, and "Glenn Miller In Concert," arranged by Wayne Scott, and as a final look at the Lincoln Bicentennial, the band will play "Freischutz Quickstep," written during the Civil War by Claudio Grafulla.

The final Broadway selection of the summer is from the musical "The Producers" by Mel Brooks with original songs composed by the famous comedian.

Marches, rags and two-steps are staples to any BCB concert and the following will round out the highly successful 2009 season: "Iowa Brigade Band" by Fred Jewell, "The Travelin' Hat Rag" by David Bobrowitz, "The Walking Frog" two step by Karl L. King and the immortal "The Stars and Stripes Forever" by John Philip Sousa.
