ROACHDALE -- The North Putnam High School volleyball team dropped a close match to Turkey Run Thursday night.

The Lady Cougars lost a close first set, 25-21, but came back and topped Turkey Run in the second set 25-18 to even it up at one set each. North Putnam played them close, but came up short in the third and fourth set, losing 25-20, 25-19.

"The girls played much better, but we still came up short. We are making little mistakes that are taking us out of the game mentally," NPHS Coach Jill Schreiber said. "Once the other team gets a rally, we lose confidence in ourselves.

"Once we decide that we have talent and play as a team, we will be able to win some games," Schreiber said. "The girls hustled and started to gain some confidence, but it's not where it needs to be."

Paxton Stephenson led the team defensively with 11 blocks, including four stuffs.

The Lady Cougars are back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Eminence to take on the Eels in a 6 p.m. match.
