Alfred L. Gray, 77, of Greencastle died Aug. 28, 2009 at his residence.

He was born on Aug. 21, 1932 in Brown County and was the son of the late Louis Garfield and Mabel Maude Hines Gray. He married Waneta May Nichols on June 13, 1952 and she survives.

Mr. Gray was a farmer and a member of the New Providence Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children Luella Mills and husband Christopher of Terre Haute and Louis Alfred Gray of Greencastle; sisters Delpha Oliver of Nashville and Nellie Fox of Reelsville; brothers Richard "Bud" Gray and wife Donna of Greencastle and Robert Gray and wife Carol of Cloverdale; and six grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Sylvia Gray and brothers Carl Nathan "Jack" Gray and Samuel Gray.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Whitaker Funeral Home in Cloverdale with Pastor Tim Mathews officiating. Burial will be in Clinton Falls Cemetery.

Calling will be on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
