Clovers just miss school record

CLOVERDALE -- Three strokes.

That's all the separated the Lady Clovers from a victory over the Terra Haute South Thursday at the Clover Meadows. The Braves carded a 188 while the Clovers posted a combined 191.

"We're not disappointed in the score, we would just like to beat Terra Haute South one of these days," CHS coach Ken Williams said.

Leading the charge for the Lady Clovers was Kayla Langdon, who posted an impressive 38 after double Bogeying her first hole of the day.

"She tied the school record with her 38," Williams said. "She doubled her first hole and parred the rest of them.

"We were also two stokes off the team score school record too," Williams added. "We've had 190 before; we just can't get over that hump."

Also contributing to the Clovers score was Elizabeth Wiley who carded a 48 while Sydney Shrum posted a 52. Victoria Boyette rounded out the Clovers score with a 53.

On Wednesday, the Clovers took part in a three-way match with Cascade and Owen Valley at Deer Creek.

The Lady Clovers placed second with a 191 while Cascade won the match with a 188 and Owen Valley finished third with a 199.

Langdon led the Clovers with a 42 while Shrum posted a 46 and Wiley turned in a 51. Boyette posted a 52 while Brooke Thompson posted a 73.

Cloverdale is back in action on Saturday when it takes part in the West Central Conference Match at Deer Creek.
