Area runners compete at Jon Mitchell Invite

CLAYTON -- Cross country runners from Cloverdale, South Putnam and North Putnam competed at the Jon Mitchell Invite at Cascade Saturday. Cloverdale was ninth overall with 215 points, while South Putnam was 10th with 237. North Putnam did not post a score.

Cloverdale runner Amillia Nally led the Clovers with a 17th place finish in a time of 21:56.05, while Claudia Monnett was 38th with a time of 23:49.94. Cheryl Dean came across in 59th with a time of 27:04.70, with Sam Huff placing 71st in 32:25.85 and Sam Monnett was 72nd in 32:55.37.

The Eagles were led by Kaelynn Cox's 43rd place finish in a time of 24:18.70 Amanda Lund was 47th overall with a time of 24:43.34, while Lyndsie Beasley finishing 52nd with a time of 25:26.82. Brittany Birt was 68th in a time of 29:47.51, while Jessica Bubb finished 73rd with a time of 35:02.66.

Hillary Salyers was North Putnam's top finisher in 55th place with a time of 25:35.19, with Whitney High coming in 57th in a time of 26:36.29. Dakota Parent ended the day in 62nd place with a time of 27:45.30, while Miranda Preecs was 76th with a time of 39:20.94.

On the boys side, South Putnam paced the Putnam County runners with a ninth place finish with 222 points, while Cloverdale was 11th with 298 points and North Putnam was 12th with 356 points.

South Putnam's Paul Rubino was 35th overall in a time of 18:53.70, with teammate Dylan Hayes placing 38th in a time of 19:00.65. Shea Arnold finished in 50th place in 19:54.54, with Jorge Cavell placing 52nd in a time of 20:02.76. Tanner Barr and Andrew Kelly finished in 55th and 56th place respectively. Barr finished with a time of 20:17.98, while Kelly ended the day with a time of 20:19.02. Matt Ruldolph rounded out the SPHS runners in 70th place in the time of 21:59.22.

Joe Rumley of Cloverdale was Putnam County's top finisher on the day with his 34th place finish. He ran a time of 18:53.40. Kyle Chambers recorded a 48th finish for the Clovers with his time of 19:37.69, with Nick Cupp placing 73rd overall in a time of 23:06.9. James Murphy was 77th in a time of 24:04.27, Chris Worthington was 80th in 24:49.20 and Will Anderson was 83rd with a time of 27:13.40.

For North Putnam, Dalton Spear was 64th on the day with his time of 20:42.69, while teammate Joe Mindiola was 71st with a time of 22:14.55. Jared Preecs finished 75th on the day in 23:37.39, with Jeremy Ban placing 79th in 24:47.84. Michael Herrman rounded out the Cougar runners in 85th place in a time of 28:00.49.

In junior varsity action, South Putnam had four runners participate.

Alex Kelly was the Eagles' top placer with a 35th finish in a time of 24:18.31. Andy Bookwalter, Zeke Evans and Trevor Ladd finished in 39th, 40th and 41st respectively. Bookwalter ran a 24:49.73, Evans a 24:57.70 and Ladd a 25:08.70.
