TERRE HAUTE -- The Cloverdale girls' golf team recorded five birdies en route to a total of 179, defeating West Vigo by 23 strokes. The Clovers' 179 also broke a school record set in 2003 by 10 strokes.

Elizabeth Wiley led the way for Cloverdale with a 40, followed by Sydney Shrum and Kayla Langdon with a pair of 46s. Victoria Boyette carded a 47, with Brooke Thompson adding a 52, Savanna Gaddis a 62 and Ellebrecht a 64.

Cloverdale head coach Ken Williams was happy following the Clovers' record-breaking round, especially with the play of Wiley.

"We've been trying to do that (break the record) all year," Williams said. "Our previous record was 189, set in 2003 and so we broke that by 10 strokes tonight. We've been close to it four times this year, but we went way over it this time.

"Wiley was on fire out there. She only had 15 putts. She had a birdie and four pars," he added.

Williams also noted that the Clovers carded five birdies on the night.

"It was a pretty good night for the Clovers. It was kind of a strange night, but we enjoyed it a great deal," Williams said.
