CLOVERDALE -- The Cloverdale seventh and eighth grade volleyball teams hosted the Clovers Tournament on Saturday. The seventh graders finished fourth, while the eighth grade squad placed third.

In the seventh grade match, Cloverdale struggled with Tri-West in the loss. Jessica Winders was selected as the "Star Player" for the Clovers, with nine serves in game against the Bruines. In the second game, Bailee Stevens was designated the "Star Players" after having 13 unanswered serves.

Cloverdale's eighth graders lost their first game against Tri-West, but held strong behind the serving prowess of "Star Player" Makelah Reed. The Clovers learned from the loss and stormed back to defeat Monrovia in the second contest.

Ali Nees was the "Star Player" for the Monrovia game, dominating the net and controlling the serve.

Head coach Missy Carrell noted that all the girls were determined to win and didn't let anything get past them. A raucous cheer section energized the Clovers on the day.

Cloverdale will face Clay City Thursday.
