Thursday, September 24, 2009

GREENCASTLE -- The Putnam County Public Library has had steady circulation with books down just slightly. PCPL Director Alice Greenburg told board members during the regular meeting Wednesday the bookmobile is up by 10 percent and Internet usage is up by 30 percent.

The library will be receiving a grant from NASA for images from space. The photos will be on display at PCPL sometime between Nov. 10 and 30, with programming available.

Greenburg announced the Family Video Customer Appreciation day was busy. The library had its bookmobile on site and received several applications for cards.

In other business:

* The library will remain a part of the Indiana State Library Consortium for Public Library Internet Access.

* The board approved a preventative maintenance contract for the heating and air conditioning system -- HVAC. The contract with Huber AA & Sons Plumbing Heating and Air consists of two inspections for the year. It showed a four percent increase from last year.

* Friends of the Library will be hosting a treasurer's sale Oct. 10. This event is in conjunction with the monthly book sale, which will have books at half price.

Board member Vicki Timm announced FOL is seeking donations of "treasures" for the sale. Items such as unwanted china, home décor or any item in good condition will be accepted.

There will be an appraiser on hand from 1 to 3 p.m. to appraise items for a fee.
