Cougars win in five over Clovers

ROACHDALE -- The North Putnam volleyball team defeated Cloverdale in five sets, winning 25-15, 20-25, 25-20, 17-25 and 18-16.

Carlye McGaughey had 16 digs and seven kills, while Paxton Stephenson added 19 digs and nine kills. Megan Robinson recorded three blocks and eight kills, with Megan Gray adding 12 assists. Kallie Brattain added three aces.

Cougar head coach Jill Schreiber said her team came out strong in the first and second sets, but lacked the intensity in the third and fourth. She noted it was a back and forth set in the fifth, but North Putnam was able to pull out the win.

She also had some underclassmen come in and provide some big minutes.

"My middle hitter played well. I had some freshman come in stepped it up for us. I had two players who is just wasn't their night. I had two freshman come in that played really well for us," Schreiber said.
