Lowell Gene Campfield, 69, of Plainfield died on Sunday, Sept. 27, 2009 in his residence surrounded by his family.

He was born on Nov. 23, 1939 in North Vernon, the son of Leroy and Mary Pollack Campfield.

Mr. Campfield was a U.S. Army veteran of the 101st Airborne. He owned and operated Amoco gas station in Plainfield for 33 years. He was a member of Plainfield Eagles Lodge #3207, Plainfield Masonic Lodge #653 and enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, NASCAR, the Colts and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife Bettie Campbell Campfield; daughter Vicky Frolicker and husband Rick; sons David Campfield and wife Tammy and Geno Campfield and wife Nicole; brothers Gilbert Campfield and wife Gala and Jack Campfield; stepsons Troy Campbell and wife Stacie and Richard Campbell; stepdaughters Tammy Wood and Lori Rogers and husband Eric; grandchildren Tylor, Josh, Brittney, Sam, Alexis and Daniel Campfield, Ivan and Ireana Frolicker; and stepgrandchildren: Jack, Troy II, Triston, Samantha, Kayla, Sara, Joey, Mellissa, Jacob, Christopher and wife Holly, Ronnie and wife Amanda, Craig and Hayden.

His parents, his first wife Sheila Campfield, two sisters, one brother and a son-in-law preceded him in death.

A memorial gathering will take place on Thursday from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Plainfield Eagles Lodge #5556, East U.S. Hwy 40, Plainfield.
