Barbara "Barb" Mugg, 75, of Fairview, Mont. died on Thursday, Oct. 1, 2009 at the Sidney Health Center, after a long and courageous battle with Ovarian Cancer.

She was born on April 21, 1934, the daughter of Alfred and Mary Herbert Stattner in Cloverdale. She grew up and attended schools in Cloverdale, graduating from Cloverdale High School in 1952. During and after school, she worked for various places in Cloverdale. Barb married Jim Ford in 1952. They had two children, Debbie Firpo and Tim Ford.

Mrs. Mugg started as a key punch operator for Public Service in Plainfield. She later started working for RCA, continuing as a key punch operator.

She was united in marriage to William "Bill" Mugg on August 26, 1966, in Quincy. After the marriage, the family grew by Bill's three children, Phillip, Wanda and Juanita. Then along came their son David. In 1976, they moved to Merriam, Kan. because of Bill's job with IBM. They were transferred to St. Joseph, Mo. and later to Kingsville, Texas. In 1982, they bought a house in Bishop, Texas. Then in May of 2009, they moved to Fairview.

She was a member of the Quincy Baptist Church and the First Baptist Church of Bishop. She was an avid reader, especially the Bible. Barb was very proud to say that she made it to all of her grandchildren's high school graduations. She traveled to Indiana, Ohio, Washington, North Dakota and South Carolina.

Barb's smile said it all. She had one of the biggest, warmest, most inviting smiles of anyone. You could feel her love from only her smile. She was also a huge Tony Stewart fan.

She is survived by her husband; two sons Tim Ford of Columbus, Ohio and Phillip Mugg of Indianapolis; three daughters, Debbie Firpo of Greer, S.C., Wanda Dye of Vancouver, Wash. and Juanita Mugg of Indianapolis; daughter-in-law Shelly Mugg Tjelde of Cartwright, N.D.; brother Larry Stattner of Cloverdale; sister Wilma Davis of Cloverdale; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her son David E. Mugg.
