Wednesday, October 7, 2009

The North Putnam volleyball came up short against Fountain Central Monday in four sets, 25-21, 25-21, 17-25 and 25-21.

Helping lead the way for the Cougars was Megan Robinson with six kills and eight blocks, with Mackensy Asbell adding six blocks and one solo. Carlye McGaughey chipped in two aces and six kills, with Megan Gray adding 10 assists and Danielle Harbison adding five assists.

"We started off slow," head coach Jill Schreiber said. "The third game we played so well. I was so proud of the girls for turning around the match. It was great. All I had to do the third game was sit back and watch the girls play and praise them for the great effort that was taking place."

Schreiber said her team was up in the fourth, but a few mistakes let Fountain Central back in the game. They chipped away at the Cougar lead and North Putnam wasn't able to finish out the game."

The Cougar will travel to Southmont Thursday at 6 p.m.
