County Home items up for auction

Wednesday, October 21, 2009
Furniture and equipment from the Putnam County Home will go up on the auction block this Saturday. Items like this set of State Farm hickory wood furniture will be for sale.

Furniture and equipment from the Putnam County home will go on the auction block this Saturday at 4 p.m. at The Little Dude Ranch on U.S. 231 N. just outside Greencastle.

Among the many items for sale is State Farm hickory wood furniture, small appliances, dishes, lamps, chests, chairs and hundreds of items taken out of the now closed home.

On Nov. 11, Lawson Auctioneers will sell off parcels of land surrounding the old home. This auction will take place at 6 p.m. at the Dixie Chopper Convention Center at the Putnam County Airport.

No decision has been made as to what will become of the home itself.

An area containing unmarked graves will be fenced off and maintained by either the county or the Cemetery Board.

For information about the land parcels or auction items, contact County Planner Kim Hyten at 653-1704.

  • would it be possible for the county to list the items up for sale for those people who might not be able to make it to the sale?

  • the above states that it is unknown what will be done with the actual county home. Maybe you better check with the OUT OF COUNTY auctioneer you hired. He already have it listed for sale on Movember 11th. Nice job commissioners - why can't you keep Putnam County Business in Putnam County. There is enough Putnam County Auctioneers! That's okay, the auctioneer that you hired does not own a bit a property nor does he pay taxes in Putnam County. Why commissioners?? Let's have a public answer in the Banner Graphic.
