Dorthea J. Mason

Dorthea J. Mason, 80, of Greencastle, died Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2009 at the Mill Pond Health Campus.

Born Nov. 29, 1929 in St. Louis, she was the daughter of Rudolph Francis and Ethel Emma Ney Windey. She was a graduate of Mehlville High School. She married Harold Eugene Mason on Jan. 26, 1952, and he preceded her in death in 2005.

Mrs. Mason, with her husband, had owned and operated Mason Jewelers in Greencastle and Plainfield for 52 years. She was member of the Elks Lodge, Eagles Lodge, and the Moose Lodge, all of Greencastle.

She is survived by her children, Steven Mason and wife Kimberly of Greencastle, Sherry Mason and husband David Fulton of Whitestown and Scott Mason and wife JeanAnn of Reelsville; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, Mark Mason; and a granddaughter, Jessica Mason.

Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home with Pastor Alan Small officiating. Calling will be from 2 p.m. until time of service.
