Cloverdale girls win

CLOVERDALE -- The Cloverdale girls' basketball picked up its first win of the season Thursday, defeating the Indiana School for the Deaf 37-36.

The Clovers trailed by five at the half, but put together a 13-point third quarter to take a one-point lead into the fourth quarter at 30-29.

But it would take some last minute heroics to secure their first win.

Down by one late, sophomore Paige Guttierez connected on the game-winning shot in the final second of the fourth quarter. She finished the game with four points.

Mariah Oetken led the Clovers with 11 points, followed by Holly McCammon with nine points and Breegan Andersen with seven points. Paige Gruener had four points and Kayla Langdon chipped in two points.

The junior varsity also got the victory, winning 34-8.

Cloverdale will host Eminence Monday at 7 p.m.
