Deer Meadow preparing for winter fundraiser

Wednesday, December 30, 2009

Deer Meadow Primary School Parent Teacher Organization is preparing for the school's Winter Festival fundraiser set for Feb. 12.

"This is a fun-filled evening in the middle of winter for all local families to attend with many activities for the kids, dinner and at the heart of it all ... the highly-anticipated raffle," said Lynn Ramey, PTO Raffle Chairperson.

The group is looking for donated items or services to be raffled off at this event.

"Our past success is a direct result of the many wonderful items we have received from local supporters in previous years," said Ramey. "If you don't have a raffle item, monetary donations are also greatly appreciated."

The group begins advertising sponsorships as soon as they receive donations. The earlier the donation comes the more advertising received.

Many annual school events are provided solely by the PTO and students and teachers at Deer Meadow rely on the PTO to enhance the educational environment for the school.

Last year the group was able to assist more with field trip expenses and provide for convocations. This year they are saving to improve the playground.

"Sponsors and their donated items or services will be advertised repeatedly in January and early February via take-home flyers at Deer Meadow and other county schools prior to the event," said Ramey.

Donations may be sent to the school at 1000 Deer Meadow Lane, Greencastle, IN 46135 attention PTO in care of Lynn Ramey.

To have donations picked up call Ramey at 653-4828.
