James "Jim" Rood Sr.

James David "Jim" Rood Sr. of Crawfordsville, died Monday, Jan. 4, 2009 at his residence.

He was born June 9, 1945 in Greencastle to Levi Harvey Rood and Anna Louise Rood Pearson. He first married Linda Malicoat, they later divorced. Later, he married Luann Rood Shackleton and they also divorced. He attended Greencastle schools.

Mr. Rood worked for MidStates and later retired from the Montgomery County Highway Dept. He was a member of the American Legion and former member of the Moose. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and was a devoted family man.

Surviving are four children, James David (Sally May) Rood Jr. of Bloomington, Chad Michael (Stephanie) Rood of Crawfordsville, Misce (Doug) Taylor of Indianapolis and Candy Majko of Indianapolis; a sister, Anna Faye Wagle of Westville; 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by stepfather Dallas Pearson, his twin brother Harvey "Butch" Rood Sr. and nephew Jeffrey Dale Wagle.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Burkhart Funeral Home with Pastor Dan Matthews officiating.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
