Benjamin "Ben" Allen Jones, 95, of Greencastle died Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010 at Asbury Towers in Greencastle.

He was born Feb. 11, 1914 in Putnam County, son of Frank and Bernice Allen Jones.

Mr. Jones was the owner of the Jones Standard Station at the corner of US 40 and US 231 for more than 20 years. He also worked for the State of Indiana from 1969 until his retirement in 1980. He was a graduate of Greencastle High School and attended Purdue University.

He is survived by his sister, Mary Ann Jones Hanna of Asbury Towers in Greencastle; nieces Susanne (Hanna) and husband Douglas MacTavish of Virginia, Sally (Etter) and husband Marvin Query of Greencastle, Peg (Etter) and husband Paul Harrold of Colorado and Diane (Etter) and husband Steve Denton of South Carolina; nephew Donovan Allen Hanna and wife Marthel of Florida; cousin Richard Evans and wife Vikki of Costa Rica; cousins Bob Evans and wife Sharon of Greencastle and Steve Jones and wife Kathy of Greencastle; and numerous great- and great-great- nieces and nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 35 years Charlotte Etter Jones in 1981, infant son and nephew Charles Lee "Bud" Etter.

A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 23 at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Staggers officiating. Burial will be at the Forest Hill Cemetery following the service.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 22, 2010 at the funeral home.
