THORNTOWN -- The North Putnam girls' basketball team fell on the road to Western Boone 71-30 Tuesday.

North Putnam pulled close in the second period, but trailed Western Boone 31-20 at the half and couldn't rebound from a tough third quarter that saw them only put up three points.

"In this game, we competed pretty well in the first half," North Putnam head coach Jim Brothers said. "Especially in the second quarter. We did a good job, but we just ran out of gas. We just never could get into the flow of the game in the second half."

It was a six-point game with three minutes to go in the second quarter and from that point on, everything just fell apart.

Shelby Frye and Dakota Malayer led the way with seven points, followed by Megan Robinson and LeeAnn Davis with four and Carlye McGaughey with three. Elsiana Crosby and Mackensy Asbell chipped in two points and Maggie Pinney added on point in the loss.
