Russell R. Penrod

Russell R. Penrod, 78, of Astatula, Fla., formerly of Clayton, died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2010.

He was born Sept. 26, 1931 in Morocco, the son of Bertran and Laura Penrod.

Mr. Penrod had retired from Link Belt Corporation as a machinist after serving in the U.S. Army. He loved to fish and play golf, coach softball, ride his motorcycle (through 49 states and much of Canada) and was a Chicago Cubs fan. He was a member of Mid Lakes Christian Church in Tavares, Fla.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Joyce A. Higgins Penrod; son Daniel Penrod and wife Janet of Kokomo; daughters Jerri Slocum and husband Michael of Fillmore, Judy Neier and husband Ray of Roachdale and JoAnne Hinesley and husband John of Danville; brothers Jack Penrod of Indianapolis and Larry Penrod of Kentucky; sister Donnie Parks of Indianapolis; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Clayton Christian Church with calling from 9:30 a.m. until services. Burial will follow in Clayton Cemetery.
