CLOVERDALE -- The South Putnam eighth grade basketball team beat Greencastle Middle School last night 41-35 in a packed gym.

The Eagles eighth grade team would like to thank their student fans for coming and supporting the team during the county tournament. They provided our kids with an edge.

Sawyer Arnold led the way with 16 points, followed by Wes Riner with 12 and Quentin Humbarger with seven.

"Our guys avenged an overtime regular season loss by playing great defense and showing improvement in the areas we've focused on all season. I'm very proud of the kids and we are looking forward to a tough battle against North Putnam on Wednesday," South Putnam coach Nathan Aker said.

South Putnam will face North Putnam in the championship game at 7 p.m. at the Cloverdale Middle School Wednesday.
