Steve Tesmer

Steve Tesmer, 45, of Greencastle passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 17, after a long battle with a heart illness.

He was born in Greencastle on June 13, 1964 to Jerry and Marcia Tesmer. Steve graduated from Greencastle High School in 1982 and went on to Indiana University to graduate with a BS in psychology and criminology. He attended Indiana University School of Law-Indianapolis and began his career in law as a deputy prosecutor. He attended Greencastle Christian Church.

Steve was currently an attorney at the Attorney General's office in Indianapolis and was previously a deputy prosecutor in Marion County for 19 years. Steve loved studying astronomy and was proficient at several musical instruments.

Steve will be sadly missed by his parents, Jerry and Marcia Tesmer; closest friend Jodi Baugh; his five brothers and wives Dave and Carla, Mark and Cathy, Paul, Tim and Kim and Matt and Crystal; and his sister and husband Joy and Brian Pershing. Steve was a fantastic uncle to 12 nieces and nephews, and is survived by his beloved pet dog, Winnie.

Visitation for Steve will be held at New Life Baptist Church from10 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturday, immediately followed by funeral services with Steve's brother Tim officiating. Afterwards, graveside services will be held at Boone Hutcheson Cemetery.

Contributions can be made in honor of Steve to the Putnam County Special Olympics and to the American Heart Association.
