'Extreme Makeover' looking for local candidates
Do you know of a deserving family who needs a makeover to their home? The ABC television show Extreme Makeover Home Edition is looking for families in this area.
The Banner Graphic received a phone call from the show earlier this week asking for help in getting out their request for deserving families.
"Ty Pennington and his crew have been all across the map and now they want to drive their famous bus to Indiana. We are looking for the deserving people and inspiring families that America can really root for," said Casting Supervisor Rebecca Shumsky.
The show is looking for people with amazing strength of character who never give up despite any odds.
"Whether it's keeping their chin up in really tough circumstances or going out of their way to help others. We want to help people whose stories have really affected their community or made a big difference in other people's lives," said Shumsky.
"There are a lot of people who are heroes to those around them because of the way they inspire others and quietly serve their communities on a daily basis," she added.
Extreme Makeover is looking for families whose homes desperately need to be rebuilt and who don't have the resources, ability or time to fix serious issues with their home without help
Each episode of Extreme Makeover is self-contained and features a race against time to complete a project that would normally take at least four months. It involves a team of designers, contractors and several hundred workers who have just seven days to totally rebuild an entire property including every single room of the house plus the exterior and landscaping.
To be eligible, a family must own their own single family home and be able to show producers how a makeover will make a huge difference in their lives. Interested families should e-mail a short description of their family story to: castindiana@gmail.com
Nominations may be submitted by the family or a by a member of the community. Each nomination must include the names and ages of every member of the household along with a description of the major challenges within the home. Anyone submitting a nomination should be sure explain why the family is deserving, heroic and a great role model for their community.
If possible, a recent photo of the family should be included. All nominations must also include a contact phone number. Deadline for nominations is March 5.
